Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. Quote from the scan, not from this page.
How this article was cut and titled: headline found by type size in the OCR geometry (split_tabloid.py); 4-4 of 7; machine-segmented newspaper page; uncorrected Vision OCR.

Michael Foot speaking at a Tribune rally against presumably would have to have an application in the kind of platform you want Labour to adopt in the Labour parliamentary elections next year.

Of course a large chunk of the Labourist left - - including ostensibly 'hard lefts use a reappraisal of policy towards the EEC as a cover for their obvious and growing shift to the right. week when the Thatcher government announced opposition to the demand by the EEC that the Tories observe equal pay legislation, Ross's anti-EEC tirade panders to the latent know-nothing chauvinism peddled by the broad alliance which includes Douglas Jay Peter Shore, John Silkin and the British CP. innuendo about women is OK as long as they're agents of the state is it? Totally lacking in sympathy for the police though we are, be they women or men. we ta to appreciate the story Worms Eye View (SA 22 July).

Surely it's more to the point to attack the police and their procedures than to attempt to inject a bit of sun-type titillation in article, i.e. 'luring in the punters' etc If you think this is SONY DuL We don't find sexism even in the guise of tonguein-cheek humour amusing. And ov the way - we're not all 'lads' HELEN MACDONALD, SUE MACDONALD KATH SHAWCROSS, London Heath has a message for Thatcher, but they both agree on the EEC about the letters it publisnes SA 22 July included one from Albert Eider of Eastbourne stating been made an election issue.

Mr Elder would

indeed think this, being a former member of the Constitutional Movement and well. known South Coast racist!

The play of sending such 'leading' letters to une press is one used in the past by the NF to encourage racial prejudice — it is up to us to expose and challenge them whenever this occurs. K. FLACK. East
