THE PROPOSALS for black sections which have been pressed for some time on the Labour Party by the black ethnic communities are now being considered by the NEC working party set up year's conference. There are many people in the movement, and I am one of them, who believe that the case for establishing such sections is very strong and the party must respond positively.

Labour is, and always has been, federal organisation recognising differing interests or the trade unions, affiliated organisations, women, young people and a whole range of special interest groups. Against that background, there is no doubt whatsoever that black sections would fit into an accepted pattern and provide a strong voice for hundreds of thousands of people who, at present, feel that their voice is not heard strongly enough. We eed to see that this argument is strongsitting and that conference hears the presented while the working party is case for black sections not only from he black communities but from across he whole spectrum of the party.

Today's pportunity for Black activists in the this reason it is a very important event.
